The Fire Risk Reduction Community List, as mandated by PRC 4290.1, is "a list of local agencies located in a state responsibility area or a very high fire hazard severity zone...that meet best practices for local fire planning." The List is developed and maintained by the Board, with the first iteration beginning July 1, 2022 and updated every two years thereafter. 

Details of list eligibility and the application process can be found in 14 CCR 1268.00-1268.04.

The 2025 application period is now closed. Applications received are currently under review for inclusion on the 2026 list which will become effective and be posted to the Board’s website July 1st, 2026. The life of the list is two years once effective.

The next application period will open July 1, 2027, for inclusion in the 2028 list.

The Board of Forestry, Land Use Planning Team will host 2 basic overview webinars providing an overview of the Fire Risk Reduction Community List Process. We will cover the history, use, benefits, timeline, and basic criteria for applying. A webinar specifically covering the application criteria in depth, including examples, will take place at a later time. The same information will be presented at each of the dates in January — two dates are provided for the purpose of flexibility.
